icon complete
Well, finally - here is my completed icon photo. It was finished last month - just needs to be blessed. It was an amazing experience, and a chance to meet some wonderful women (and 1 man!) who helped make the class very rich indeed.

guardian angel icon

icon with 3rd highlights begun
My guardian, with 3rd highlights added to the skin and hair. 3rd highlights on the rest to be added soon, then more color floated on top of them, then more highlights... I hope to be finished sometime this spring.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Happy Halloween, Charlie Brown!
Lindsay and I take any opportunity to try something new creatively, so here is our Halloween pumpkin. We also enjoyed eating the roasted seeds as we carved!

My daughter Amanda came over for supper on Sunday, so we took advantage of the nice weather and sat out on the deck. Here are a few photos of our merriment - we had a good time.

I was searching the net and came across your pic's, interesting pic's. One question for you; what did you use the WD40 for that was on the table. My guess it was to oil the swing you and Amanda was sitting on. My friend says it was for the hinges on the door to the house and you put it down on the table after useing it on the door. Here is my little Forgotten Meadow. It might have a nice little brick fence around it, but it has a wild heart. I like it's style.

I blogged about my deep-down misconceptions of who God is. These paintings represent how part of me saw (sees?) God as a lone and watchful being, always on the prowl for sins of comission and omission. Even the Creation picture seems somewhat remote. How could I ever know if I was really measuring up? One apple and its all over. Bad theology here, and part of what I have to unravel and rework in my life. (As an aside - instead of being shown with Jesus and the Spirit, I wonder why it often looks like God is running a Day Care? No wonder he's so short-tempered).

I need a desk for this

Virgin Mary Desk Fountain
I can't believe I discovered this when I have no desk to put it on. Poor Mary - so used and abused!

Photocopy of the way the finished icon will look

Here are a few pictures of my icon in progress. I'll try to remember to photograph the stages as they occur. It is an amazing experience! I never knew it would be so meaningful. It has definitely become an important part of my spiritual journey.

By the way, my icon is called "The Guardian Angel". My instructor chose this icon for me, which I believe was meant to be. I missed the first class due to my fateful trip to Edmonton in January. At the same time I was to be in my first class, I was actually rolling into the ditch in a van. The next week, without knowing about the accident, my instructor suggested the Guardian Angel. Good choice! By the way, the angel is not holding an actual baby - the baby represents my soul.
